Introducing our new charity partner Children First

St James Quarter has announced a new 12-month charity partnership with Children First, Scotland’s national children’s charity!

The partnership will see St James Quarter shine a spotlight on the vital work Children First does to protect and support children and families across Scotland, while also raising essential funds through a programme of community-led initiatives.

Founded on the belief that every child deserves a safe and happy childhood, Children First works tirelessly to protect children from harm and to help them recover from trauma and abuse. The charity provides practical, emotional, and financial support to families, helping to give children a brighter future.

Jennifer Laseen, Chair of the CSR Committee at St James Quarter, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Children First, a charity that does such vital work for children and families here in Edinburgh and across Scotland. At St James Quarter, we’re committed to supporting our local community and creating opportunities that bring people together. Through initiatives like the Book Drop, we hope to not only raise funds but also shine a light on the importance of literacy, education, and giving every child the chance of a brighter future.”

Mary Glasgow, CEO of Children First, said: “A huge thank you to everyone who voted for Children First to become St James Quarter’s new charity partner. With children today facing greater challenges than ever before, families urgently need somewhere to turn for emotional, practical and financial support. We’re delighted to be working with St James Quarter to help more families keep their children safe and support more young people to enjoy a brighter future.”

The first fundraising activity, St James Quarter Book Drop, will launch in support of Zero Waste Week and run throughout September (from 1st to 29th). Guests are invited to donate pre-loved books via the Guest Services Lounge, located on Level 1 of the Galleria. In collaboration with NWH Group, all books collected will go towards supporting Children First and promoting literacy, education, and a love of reading within the local community.
