Chinese New Year

We are inviting guests to power into the Year of the Dragon with an exciting line-up of events to celebrate the start of the new lunar calendar.

In what’s sure to be a highlight, a spectacular Lion Dance performance from the talented team at Yee’s Hung Ga Kung Fu will take place at 12pm and then again at 1pm on 10 February. In a beautiful display of eye-catching colours, the Lion dancers will make their way along Level 1 and up to Register Square, where the traditional performance, which is said to bring good luck for the year ahead, is sure to captivate guests.

We will also surprise guests with red envelope giveaways, a traditional Chinese New Year custom that symbolises good wishes and luck for the year ahead.

Guests can shop unique and exquisite Chinese New Year gifts from brands across the Quarter, including Year of the Dragon inspired collections from COACH, H Beauty and Rituals, where complimentary Lunar New Year themed gift wrapping is also available in store.

The festivities extend to some of the Quarter’s favourite bars and restaurants with celebratory offers and special menu items. Duck & Waffle invites guests to ignite their palette with a flavourful menu of Lunar New Year specials including steamed sea bass and spicy glass noodles. Pho will offer red envelopes to all guests who dine on 10 February containing prizes and discounts as they celebrate Tet, the Vietnamese New Year.  One of the Quarter’s newest street food offerings on Little King Street, Ozen, who were recently nominated for the ‘UK’s Best Bao Bun’, will offer one free side for every four bao buns purchased to those visiting them over Chinese New Year.

For those looking to extend their trip to Scotland’s capital, and stay the night in the Quarter, Roomzzz Edinburgh has unveiled an exclusive ‘New Year: Explore’ offer, in which visitors can save up to 20% on stays when they extend their getaway to 3, 4, or 5 nights.
